Hamish MacDonald

Hamish Macdonald hosts Australia’s popular prime-time public affairs program ‘The Project’ on Network Ten. He also hosts ‘Breakfast’ on ABC Radio National. Hamish is an award winning broadcaster and foreign correspondent known for hard-hitting political interviews, reporting from the frontline of conflicts, hosting prime-time news programs and leading in-depth investigations.

In the field, Hamish has been on the ground covering the war in Afghanistan, Ukraine and Libya, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Egyptian revolution as well as the rise of ISIS in the Middle East.

Hamish reported on United States Presidential elections, witnessing the rise of both Obama and Trump in America. He has also reported on the Oscar Pistorius trial, the Japanese Tsunami, London bombings and the search for more than 200 missing schoolgirls in Nigeria.

In 2013 Hamish was appointed International Affairs Correspondent for America’s ABC News, after a career anchoring and reporting for Al Jazeera English, United Kingdom’s Channel 4 and ITV and Australia’s Network Ten.

Hamish received the prestigious Walkley Award for Current Affairs Journalism and a Human Rights Australia Award for Broadcast Journalism in 2012. That same year GQ Magazine named Hamish “Media Man of the Year”. The Britain’s Royal Television Society named him “Young Journalist of the Year” in 2008.

In 2016 he became a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
