Gordon Flake is the Centre’s Founding CEO. He was born in Rehoboth, New Mexico and received his BA degree in Korean with a minor in international relations from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He completed his MA at the David M. Kennedy Center for International and Area Studies, also at B.Y.U and speaks both fluent Korean and Laotian. Prior to moving to Perth, Gordon spent nearly 25 years working on Asia and Foreign Policy in the "Think Tank" community in Washington D.C. including 15 years at the helm of the Mansfield Foundation. He accepted the inaugural role of CEO of the PerthUSAsia Centre in Perth in January 2014 and in less than 18 months has made a significant impact not only in Perth – but also on the intellectual debate and diplomatic activities of the Centre’s role in the Indo-Pacific region.
