Katarina Carroll APM, Commissioner Queensland Fire and Emergency Services

The Harvard Club of Australia invites you to join us at a series of Alumni breakfasts to share stories, experiences and thought leadership.

Commissioner Katarina Carroll APM was awarded the Wolfensohn Scholarship in 2015, the same year she was appointed Commissioner of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

The QFES is the primary provider of fire and rescue, emergency management and disaster mitigation programs and services throughout Queensland, and includes Fire and Rescue, Emergency Management, Rural Fire Service Queensland and State Emergency Service.

Katarina has several tertiary qualifications including an Executive Masters in Public Administration, a Degree in Criminology and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Management. She has been the recipient of two scholarships - Sir Vincent Fairfax Scholarship in Ethical Leadership and Sir James Wolfensohn Public Service Scholarship, Kennedy Business School, Harvard.

In addition, she has achieved numerous international, national and State awards, including the Australian Police Medal and more recently the national Telstra Business Women’s Award for Government and Academia.She was named as one of the Australian Financial Review and Westpac ‘100 Women of Influence’ in 2015. Katarina is married with two children aged 12 and 15.

In 2012 the Harvard Club of Australia established the Sir James Wolfensohn Public Service Scholarship to enable senior Australian public servants to undertake an executive education program at the Harvard Kennedy School, the world’s leading school of Government.  The Scholarship is intended to support the design and delivery of good public policy in Australia and we are privileged to welcome Katarina to share her story, her challenges and insights.
