At our first Monday Club luncheon for 2015 we are honoured to have as our guest speaker Michael Reid who will present a short history of the Australian art market, with a focus on one of the most significant trends in world contemporary art - photography.
Michael has been working for 28 years in the art world. A decade of arts industry experience with Christie's London and Australia culminated with the opening of a major representative office for Christie's in Brisbane in 1996.
He then contributed weekly for ten years as Art Market Analyst to the business section of The Australian newspaper. Following this, he wrote weekly for five years for the Sydney Morning Herald / The Age 'Good Weekend' newspapers magazine and continues to write occasionally on art for the Australian Financial Review and the international blog, The Art Market Monitor.
Michael was mentioned in 2012, 2013 & 2014 in The Art Life blog as one of the 50 most influential people in the Australian art world. He is a former director & deputy chair of the Foundation of the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales (Sydney Living Museums); a member of the Law Society of New South Wales; the Register of Peers, Australia Council, and the Berlin Art Galleries Association.
We hope you can join us.
